O'r Môr I'r Mynydd/From Shore to Summit

“O’r Môr I’r Mynydd/From Shore to Summit” develops the plate concept. I placed the plates at 100m vertical intervals on a walk upstream I took with my father in early May, from a river mouth at sea level to the summit of Carnedd Llewelyn at 1063m. The walk followed the course of the river up to its source and then beyond. Along the way, I passed a hafod, where the last true Prince of Wales Dafydd was captured by the English, and his men slaughtered. It is a stunning and remote landscape, heavy with palimpsests, inhabited only by sheep and a herd of wild ponies, a breed identified by DNA testing as wholly unique to the Carneddau range.
